Melissa & Mark // DoubleTree Wedding // Arlington Heights, IL
Neutral grey hues, rich yellow accents, and the sweetest of bride and groom you’ve ever seen are just a few of our favorite things in Melissa and Mark’s Chicago Wedding. This impeccably-attired pair shared their perfect day with friends and family. Melissa, in a gorgeous lace v-neck wedding gown, looked every inch glamorous from her red lips to her beaded pearl necklace. While cool groom Mark, looked classic and handsome in his black and white tuxedo. Guests enjoyed touches of lace, bright and cheery florals, and fun marquee letters, making this reception one to remember. Dive into the details in the full gallery below.
Congratulations Melissa & Mark!
We wish you two a lifetime of love & happiness!
From the bride:
“Mark and I met in college. We were both Biology majors, and ended up in some classes together. We also were both members of the same student organization – Filipinos in Alliance. We were instantly comfortable with each other and the rest was history. Mark has the kindest heart out of anyone I know and we make a great team.”
The Romance:
“We dated for 6 years before the proposal. After dating for so many years we agreed that we’d eventually get married. Looking ahead on a calendar I saw that our anniversary date, May 9, was on a Saturday in 2015. I told him that if I didn’t have a ring by May 9, 2014 then I’d just start planning the wedding for May 9, 2015.”
The Proposal:
“The proposal was on our 6 year anniversary. We were out to dinner for my friend’s birthday (or so I thought). All of our friends were seated in a private room at the restaurant. Suddenly my family walked into the room too, and Mark stood up. He said some words, kneeled down, and opened up the ring box. I was surprised because I had no idea he was ring shopping. Of course I said yes!”
Decor:
“Our main color theme was gray with pops of yellow. The yellow was detailed in the flowers and the dresses of the flower girls. The centerpieces were lanterns with a small floral arrangement that hugged the side of the lantern.”
The Dress:
“I chose dress F161005. I was looking for a lace dress that had straps. I was going for a classic look. I loved the scalloped lace at the bottom of the dress and the details of the lace and buttons on the back. I loved how comfortable the dress was. Finding the perfect dress was surprisingly easy for me. Jasmine was our first stop, and this dress was the 3rd dress I tried on. I tried on others that day, but came back to this one. When I put it on, I knew it was for me.”
Last Piece of Advice:
“Plan ahead! I’m a high school teacher, so i knew my year would be busy once school started. I booked most of the vendors in the summer, so i wasn’t stressing out too much. I also had a day-of coordinator which made the wedding day much more enjoyable for me.”
