What’s a wedding without flowers?! The two go hand in hand, marrying gracefully. And boy do we love a wedding with an abundance of pretty blooms, but we also know they can cost a pretty penny. That is why our floral expert, Giselle, has broken it down for us and highlights a few tips when it comes to planning your wedding’s floral and décor.
Tips for Making Smart Decisions:
FIRST: Get inspired!
Check out bridal magazines such as THE KNOT, WEDDING GUIDE CHICAGO, CS BRIDES, etc.
Also don’t forget Pinterest! One of my personal favorites!
At this point it’s all about the big picture, think about what is going to best suit the style of your wedding and color palette. Aesthetics can be mixed to create a really special design for your day. Don’t feel limited, for example if you love burlap your wedding doesn’t automatically have to be ultra-rustic; you can glam burlap up with crystals or give a sweet vintage feel by adding lace into the floral or decor.
Most brides focus on key areas at this point, so start cataloging or pinning ideas for centerpieces and bouquets.
SECOND: Create a budget
Start thinking about your budget and be realistic based on your needs. For example, if you’re looking at large centerpieces you’re going to need a larger budget than a bride that is DIY-ing or having her venue provide their complimentary centerpieces.
Focus on what is most important to you, oftentimes this is the bridal bouquet—as you will be holding it most of the day, so it will be in most of your photos.
Also, don’t make the mistake of blowing your entire budget in one single area of floral or décor. Remember you have a whole bridal party that needs floral, and a ceremony/reception space that will need decoration. Below are some key areas to consider:
1) Personals- Bridal & Bridesmaids Bouquets, Corsages and Boutonnieres.
A must have for all brides! A designer will create a custom look for you based on your inspiration.
2) Centerpieces-
Floral or non-floral centerpieces, you will need a focal point for the tables.
3) Table Linens, Chair Covers, or Chair Rentals-
Consider your venue and vision for your big day. You may want to upgrade linens, or order chair covers/chair rentals to achieve your desired look.
4) Décor for Reception and Ceremony- Backdrops, Stage, and Lighting
A great way to highlight specific areas of your wedding or to transform a space.
