Wedding Wednesday: Jamie & Ian- 7.25.14

Today we bring you a Chicago wedding with a long distance love story. We are suckers for a real life love story and this long distance relationship is one that ‘love knows no distance.’ Jamie & Ian spent most of their relationship in two separate states before taking the road to marital bliss. Jamie, in nursing school, was based in Florida while Ian was working in Illinois. With a little help from Facebook, the couple connected and endured a long-distance relationship for two and a half years. After years of distance, Ian proposed and the rest is history. Read on about this adorable couple’s nuptials below (believe us- it gets even more charming!)

Tell us about the One (and we mean the gown!)

“My Parents came with me from Florida to find my dress. I saw Jasmine on the Knot and Wedding Wire and KNEW I had to go look for a dress there (and walk on the runway!) Michelle B. was our consultant and was amazing. I tried a couple dresses and saw “My dress” on a mannequin and knew I had to try it on! As soon as I tried on my dress, I loved it!! As soon as I walked on the runway and saw how beautiful the dress was and my parent’s reactions, I knew it was my dress and I didn’t want to take it off!”

Let’s talk Colors

“I always knew I wanted our wedding colors to be blush pink and light grey. I felt they projected an air of romance and knew for a summer wedding the colors would look great. I gave the girls an option between a one strap and a strapless sweetheart chiffon dress and my two matrons of honor coincidentally picked the one strap while the other three picked the strapless. They looked beautiful!

In terms of the men- we knew we wanted the guys in grey with silver accents with Ian in ivory accents. The guys looked charming in grey and paired nicely with the blushing pink ladies.”

Tell us about the ‘I do!’

“We got married at St Pat’s Catholic Parish in St. Charles, Illinois. Ian grew up going to this church and his parents still attend, so it was important to us to pick a ceremony site with meaning, especially since we live a few hours away. The entire day was truly perfect and exactly how we imagined it! The best part was seeing each other at the end of the aisle and saying I DO!”

Now let’s celebrate…

“We visited a few reception sites from outdoor tents to country clubs and as soon as we saw how beautiful Esplanade Lakes was, we knew it was our venue. The entire room is floor to ceiling windows and backs up to the Morton Arboretum. It is truly breathtaking. The space is 9,500 square feet with spectacular views of a pond and beautiful nature. It was truly the most beautiful wedding reception site we’ve ever seen or been to!

We wanted our space to be elegant, fun and romantic, which is exactly what it was. We had pink up lighting throughout the space, a monogrammed dance floor, beautiful grey, ivory and pink linens and the most beautiful centerpieces to bring the entire room together!

We gave our guests homemade cake pops that said “Love is Sweet, Enjoy a Treat” and also flip flops to dance the night away in.”

Let’s talk Blooms…

“Giselle was truly a pleasure to work with and was SO helpful throughout our entire wedding planning process. We knew we wanted blush, pink and ivory flowers and Giselle and her team came up with the centerpieces which truly exceeded our expectations. We had a combination of tall and short centerpieces and everyone kept complimenting how beautiful our flowers and bouquets were and we couldn’t agree more. The centerpieces truly made our reception site that much more beautiful!”

Final Thoughts to share…

“We truly had a blast planning our wedding. We had so much help from our family and friends and did a lot of things DIY- thanks to Pinterest and Etsy! We built our card-box ourselves (more so Ian!), made our cake pops, place cards, hotel welcome bags, and guestbook. We framed both of our parents and grandparents wedding pictures, made flip flops for our guests, and so much more! We truly had a great time doing it!

We were never really stressed and at the end of the day we just reminded ourselves why we were doing everything.

If we could change anything we would have more time in the day! The day flew by, which everyone told us it would and it REALLY did, which makes us sad. We wish we could do the entire day over just without the planning and just enjoy the day again with more time to mingle with guests and, of course, dance!

We feel as though we were a true “Jasmine couple!” So much of our wedding was planned through Jasmine Galleria, which we are so fortunate about! Jasmine made our wedding beautiful and perfect and really made our vision a reality. We are so lucky to have found Jasmine and want to thank every single person we worked with! Everyone far exceeded our expectations and made our wedding (planning process and day of) a day we will never, ever forget!”

Much Love! Xoxo
